  "JELLICOE" the Musical

"Jellicoe" the Musical dramatises the work of Father Basil Jellicoe in Somers Town, and the founding of the St Pancras Humanist and Housing Association in the 1920s.

"Jellicoe" the Musical was presented at The Shaw Theatre in October 2003, where it did a two weeks' capacity season, which was facilitated by Nina Field, Shaw Theatre Manager. We had a cast of thirty five professional performers and twenty students from St Aloysius School. Five of the cast doubled instruments with their acting roles, giving us an orchestra of eight under the Musical Director, Peter Marshall. Script, lyrics, tunes and direction were by Rob Inglis, musical arrangements by Peter Marshall.

We are grateful for assistance to Argent St George, CTRL and St Pancras Housing, as well as to our support from the Camden organisations: Central Partnership, Community Umbrella and Arts and Tourism.

Script, lyrics and melodies of "Jellicoe" the Musical are copyright Rob Inglis, musical arrangements are copyright Peter Marshall. Research was based on the biography of Basil Jellicoe by Kenneth Ingram, on the book "Housing is not Enough" by Malcolm Holmes, on "People Need Roots" by Irene Barclay, on "And Grandmother's Bed Went Too", an oral history collection published by St Pancras Humanist and Housing Association, and on the minutes of St Pancras House Improvement Society, 1924-1936.
